Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director has spent most of her career working alongside famous directors and actors both on screen and in television. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will stream on Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The team behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the leading the production. Ashford's most recent performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. Also, it had Ben Vereen and Elizondo. Some other Broadway roles for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and now divides her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
